About me.

I am Amy Westervelt, a writer and editor covering the environment, health, tech, and business. I have been on staff at Spa Magazine, Earth Island Journal, Heeb, VenusZine, Planet Magazine, Soma and Sustainable Industries. I've also worked as a stringer for Allure and Modern Bride.

My magazine work has appeared in numerous national publications including Conde Nast Traveler, BusinessWeek, and Travel + Leisure, and I’ve written books for Fodor’s, Great Destinations, and Wallpaper. In 2007, I won a Folio Eddie for my feature on the potential of algae as a feedstock for biofuel. In 2015 I was awarded a Rachel Carson award for "women greening journalism", and in 2017 I won an Edward R. Murrow award for a series on the impacts of the Tesla Gigafactory in Nevada.
